NEW DELHI: Shruthi Sulappa, a class X student of Mary Immaculate School in Bangalore, has bagged the Gold Medal of the National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievement for her extraordinary and outstanding artistic talent in drawing and painting. Winner of many international and national awards for her outstanding work, Shruthi is one of the two students from Karnataka who have earned awards this year.
Shruthi’s oil painting on canvas titled ‘Milk Maid’ had beaten two million entries from 148 countries to be included among the Top 10 in the ‘International Environmental Poetry and Art Contest 2008’ organised by the “River of Words”, a Berkeley (USA) based NGO.
She has been awarded Certificates of Excellence by ‘International Child Art Foundation, USA’ and was also awarded a unique individual prize by Slovenia. She has also exhibited her paintings in London and Germany.
Speaking to Express, Shruthi said, “I want to study at IITs and also want to keep painting.” A M Anand, the other prize winner from the state, is a student as well as a teacher. A little genius in mathematics, he has been asked by several institutions to take mathematics classes due to his extraordinary knowledge of the subject.
