Coalgate: CBI raids Jayaswal's house, to grill the Dardas next week

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday carried out searches of mining baron Manoj Jayaswal's residence in connection with the coal blocks allocations row. Jayaswal is a senior executive of the Abhijeet Group.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday carried out searches of mining baron Manoj Jayaswal's residence in connection with the coal blocks allocations row. Jayaswal is a senior executive of the Abhijeet Group.

Sources said that the 57-year-old was being examined in his hometown of Nagpur.The CBI first searched his residence for documents. Sources said that Jayaswal was under scrutiny for inflating his company's financials and lying about coal block allocations.

The sources added that government officials who connived with the Jayaswal group and overlooked details, were being probed as well. Till now, production has not started in the three coal blocks allocated to Jayaswal.

Meanwhile, the other accused in the scam and named by the CBI in its FIR against JLD Yavatmal Energy Limited - Congress MP Vijay Darda, his son Devendra and his brother Rajendra - are likely to be questioned next week.
