The Punjab Police on Thursday booked noted Punjabi singer Nachhatar Gill for allegedly raping an aspiring model and making an obscene video featuring her. He is yet to be arrested.

The Ludhiana-based girl had lodged a complaint in February saying that Gill and his friends raped her on the pretext of casting her in films and music videos.

After a four-month inquiry, the Ludhiana Police on Thursday registered a case against Gill and his three unidentified accomplices under sections 376, 420, 506, 66E and 67A of the Information Technology Act.

She said the third person established physical relations with her on the pretext of helping her seek legal action against those who sexually exploited her. In February, when she met then Ludhiana Police Commissioner Ishwar Singh, the model had alleged Gill of sedating her and taking objectionable pictures in a hotel room here.

Meanwhile, Gill termed the allegations baseless and a conspiracy against him.
