The usual suspect behind Uri: Lashkar-e-Taiba

SRINAGAR: Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (LeT) is said to be the outfit that carried out early Sunday morning's attack on 12th brigade headquarters of the Indian Army in Uri, close to the Line of Control, in which 17 soldiers died. Four Lashkar terrorists were gunned down in the ensuing gunfight.

A few days ago, Lashkar chief Hafiz Muhammed Sayeed had said in a telecast that they would turn ''Kashmir into a graveyard for India's security forces''. A few days ago, four terrorists were killed in a gunfight in the Poonch region.

Meanwhile, security forces have pressed into service an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to hunt down terrorists in the area. Army chief Gen. Dalbir Singh Suhag has reached Uri while defence minister Manohar Parrikar was expected to reach Srinagar shortly.
