BHOPAL: An eight-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her brother-in-law and three others, with the help of her sister, in Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh.
The Maharajpura police have arrested the survivor’s sister and brother-in-law and another accused, while search is underway for the remaining two accused. The girl was rescued after the NGO Child Line received a call from her neighbours who narrated the ordeal the minor was going through.
Gwalior police superintendent Dr Ashish said that the girl’s parents had passed away a few years back and she was living with her sister and brother-in-law, a daily wage worker, in Maharajpur area of Gwalior for the past two years.
During the recording of the girl's statements before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), it came to light that the child had been sexually assaulted by her 35-year-old brother-in-law, a neighbour and two unidentified men for the last few weeks, all with her sister's help.
Medical examination confirmed the sexual assault. A case of rape under IPC sections was registered against the five accused, including the girl's sister. The provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 have also been slapped against the accused.
