PM Modi speaks to Chief Ministers of Assam, Bihar over flood situation; assures monitoring

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Bihar's Nitish Kumar over the flood situation in the States, an official release said.

NEW DELHI:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Bihar's Nitish Kumar over the flood situation in the States, an official release said.     

"Ever since Assam has witnessed flooding, the Central Government has been closely and constantly monitoring the situation. All possible support is being provided to Assam for overcoming the flood situation prevailing in parts of the State," the prime minister tweeted on the situation here.

Regarding Bihar, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) took to Twitter saying that, “PM @narendramodi has spoken to Bihar CM @NitishKumar regarding the flood situation in parts of the state.  

Further giving assurance, Prime Minister Modi said that teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are in Bihar for rescue and relief work. “Centre assures all support to Bihar government to mitigate the flood situation. Teams of @NDRFHQ are in Bihar for rescue and relief work.” 

Supaul, Saharsa, Bagha, Gopalganj, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Khagaria, Darbhanga and Madhepura are some districts which have been affected by flooding in Bihar.

Over 22.5 lakh people have reportedly been affected by the flooding in 21 districts in Assam.
