DHAR: A 4-year-old tribal girl was allegedly raped and killed by a man living next door to the victim in Manawar area, 90 km from the district headquarters, police said.
Superintendent of Police Virendra Singh said that the accused, identified as 25-year-old Karan, lured the girl to a deserted place and allegedly raped her.
The official said that after raping the girl, the accused smashed her head with a stone so as to destroy evidence and to make it difficult to identify the victim.
The girl's body was found in the forest about 500 metres from her home, the official said.
"We rushed to spot and after investigation, we rounded up Karan who has confessed to the crime," said Singh.
The body has been sent for post-mortem to Indore and further investigations were underway, Singh added.
