NEW DELHI: Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) today demanded registration of FIR against JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav and BJP leader Vinay Katiyar for their "derogatory" remarks.

DCW said it would complain to Delhi Police Commissioner against Yadav and Katiyar.

DCW chairman Swati Maliwal stated that strict action was not being taken against politicians giving such "horrendous" of statements because of lack of requisite laws against such incidents.

In a statement, she said DCW is of the view that "such leaders" should be immediately made to step down from public life and strict action should be taken against them.

The senior JD(U) leader had kicked up a row with his remark that "the honour of a vote is greater than that of a daughter", while Katiyar stoked controversy with his remark that there were "more beautiful women star campaigners than Priyanka Gandhi" in Congress.
