CHANDIGARH: The army was on an alert Tuesday morning even as “Islamic State” related writings appeared on walls at the Subathu Cantonment near Solan in Himachal Pradesh along with a couple of flags saying “ISIS zindabad.”

Police sources said the writings were seen at five places in the cantonment, both in Hindi and English, claiming to be an “ISIS Fatwa” and arrival of the Islamic State.

‘Fridge bikega tu bamb aye ga… tv bikega tu bamb aye ga,’ were written on the walls in the army area. Most sentences were framed peculiarly—“IS Modi Nepal Boom”—and were written using a black spray paint on the gate of a park and on some walls in the cantonment at the 14th Gurkha training centre.

The usage of some of the words, like the word “boom,”, makes it a case of the handiwork of a less-educated person. ‘Two flags with “ISIS Zindabad” written on them were found,’ said a police officer.

A case has been registered under Section 124-A of the IPC for sedition against unknown persons. A team of forensic experts from Shimla examined the places where these lines appeared. Additional Superintendent of Police Manmohan Singh also visited the spot. The Army authorities are also trying to obtain intelligence inputs.

Solan Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kanwar said a joint surveillance would be undertaken by the Army and the civil authorities to rule out any untoward incidents in the area.

Similar writings appeared a few days back at Dharampur albeit written in saffron paint. Both the writings are likely to be compared for any similarity.

A few days back, a local resident had found the drinking water was poisoned in Sabatu and adjoining Panchayats, following which the authorities were alerted. The water is supplied through the tanks of  irrigation and public health department of the state government.
