Four die, 15 hurt as UPSRTC bus catches fire

LUCKNOW: On a day when Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath was on a visit to the Banda district of Bundelkhand region, four persons were killed and 15 injured when a UPSRTC bus caught fire on Saturday.

The mishap took place near Bhatha Jaspura Road under Jaspura police station in Banda. The driver lost control over the wheels and rammed the bus into an electric pole following which the bus came in contact with a high tension live wire and caught fire.

The incident took place in the morning and the injured were admitted to a local hospital. According to reports, the Banda-bound bus was coming from Hamirpur. The bus driver and conductor fled the scene after the incident.

The passengers were trapped inside the burning bus and four of them died due to burn injuries and asphyxia, while the injured were rushed to a local district hospital.

Seeing the bus in flames, the villagers informed the cops, who then called the ambulance.

Meanwhile, CM Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the incident and ordered the officials to take necessary steps. The CM also visited the injured at the hospital. The UP CM was present in Banda on Saturday to review the performance of different departments including law and order situation of the district.
