BHOPAL: Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev expressed concern on Thursday over the inability of the Narendra Modi led central government and state governments to address the issue of unemployment in the country.

“Poore desh mein berozgari ek bada prashna hai, kendra aur rajya sarkare us disha mein milkar jitna karna chahiye nahi kar paa rahi hain (Unemployment is a major issue in the entire country, but the central and state governments are not doing enough to address the issue in the right manner),” Ramdev told journalists in Bhopal.

“Berozgari, garibi aur abhav bharat mata ke maathe par kalank hai (unemployment, poverty and hunger are blot on the forehead of Mother India),” he added.

He further informed that “the Patanjali Group has created 11,000 new jobs in the sales department during the last one month, out of which 1500 new recruitment have been made in Madhya Pradesh only. We’re going to create 11,000 more jobs in the coming months and target to render employment to 20,000 jobless youths over the next six months.”

Ramdev’s statements are likely be an embarrassment for the ruling BJP and the Narendra Modi government, as he had extensively campaigned for the party in 2014 Lok Sabha polls all across the country.

The Yoga Guru also criticized the recent physical assault on social activist Swami Agnivesh in Jharkhand allegedly by a group of activists related to ruling BJP’s youth wing.

“Just like freedom of speech and expression, the right to disagree too was a fundamental right of people in our democracy. But attacking Swami Agnivesh in the name of disagreeing with his views is disgraceful and unacceptable,” he maintained.
