JAIPUR: The mercury may be falling with winter approaching in the desert state of Rajasthan, but the temperature in the election arena is rising, with three big rallies scheduled in the next three days. The competition is between traditional rivals BJP and the Congress, but the third front is a possibility and its success will depend on two of the three rallies.

The eyes of the entire political class are on the rallies. Even politicians in Delhi are keenly observing the developments as they can make or break political careers. Fanning the possibility of a third front, a ‘ Kisan Hunkar Rally’ will be held on October 29 in Mansarovar by Kheenvsar MLA Hanuman Beniwal. He will announce his new political party that day. Beniwal has said that 15 lakh people will gather for his rally, and a day earlier, on  October 28,he will conduct a 10-km roadshow in Jaipur. He has been campaigning in villages and smaller areas for the last few days and has also held rallies.

Beniwal claimed that his party was in alliance with former BJP leader Ghanshyam Tiwari’s Bharat Vahini Party and had asked parties such as the CPI, BSP and SP to join the third front. Beniwal is relying on the votes of Jats, a politically dominant community in western Rajasthan’s Nagour, Barmer and Bikaner districts. “The BJP and Congress have not done anything for farmers. We will ensure that the Swamintahan commission report for farmers is implemented,” he said.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is also looking to gain new ground and field candidates in all 200 Vidhan Sabha seats in the state. The AAP convenor, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, will hold a rally on October 28 in Jaipur which will be attended by top AAP leaders. sensing the importance of the farming community vote bank, Kejriwal is giving top priority to the issue of farmers.
