Maneka, FB officials discuss ways to ensure a porn-free social media

Various mechanism to ensure cyber safety for Women and Children on Facebook and curb Child Pornography was discussed during the meeting.

NEW DELHI: Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Maneka Gandhi on Monday held a meeting with Facebook officials to discuss the mechanism to ensure cyber security for women and children on the social media site and curb child pornography.

"Taking pornography how cyber platforms are increasingly being misused by perpetrators to harass & abuse women & children for voyeuristic pleasures, I held a meeting with #Facebook officials headed by Ms.Antigone Davis and Ms.Ankhi Das,''the Minister said in a tweet.

''We discussed at length the mechanism that can be put in place to ensure cyber safety for Women and Children on Facebook and curb Child Pornography,'' Ms Gandhi said.

''I was happy to learn that #Facebook has put in place a tool to help school teachers to educate students on safety on social media space. This is currently available in six Indian languages,'' she said.
