DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand Police on Tuesday registered a case of attempt to murder against two men who travelled to Alwar in Rajasthan and arrived in Haridwar concealing their travel history.
Ashok Kumar, additional director general of police said, "The case has been registered against the two men under Section 307 (Attempt to murder) who are identified as Jamaat followers. Both men concealed their travel history to Alwar in Rajasthan."
On Sunday Uttarakhand police chief had warned Jamaat followers that attempt to murder will be registered against those who fail to come forward.
Following the appeal, 180 came forward and requested medical help on Monday.
Meanwhile, a 29-year-old man committed suicide in Rudrapur of Udham Singh Nagar district on the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday in fear of being infected with COVID-19 virus.
The man was quarantined after displaying symptoms of flu. Later, his samples were tested negative for coronavirus.
Cases in Uttarakhand have spiked from 7 to 31 within four days. Out of total 31, 24 are Jamaat followers who attended a religious congregation in Delhi.
