I am in Kevadia, but my heart goes out to those who died in Morbi bridge collapse: PM Modi

NEW DELHI: The government will leave no stone unturned in carrying out relief and rescue operations at Morbi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during a visit to the Statue of Unity in Gujarat’s Kevadia on Monday. While giving the speech, Modi got emotional, and said, “I am in Kevadia, but my heart goes out to those who died in the Morbi Bridge collapse tragedy.” He also got emotional while addressing a gathering at Banaskantha in the evening.

Speaking at a programme to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary, Modi talked about the bridge collapse and said Patel’s decisiveness and focus are an inspiration in such difficult times.
“I am in Ekta Nagar, but my mind is focused on the victims of Morbi.

Only rarely in life would I have experienced such pain. On one side is a heart full of hurt; on the other, there is the path of duty and work,” Modi said. He underlined how the country stands as one when disaster strikes in any part of the nation. “Everyone is praying for those who have fallen victim. Locals are coming forward to lend support at the site, or hospitals. This is the power of unity,” he said.
