JAIPUR: A Jaguar trainer aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed near Bhanuda village in Churu district around noon on Wednesday during a routine training mission, resulting in the tragic death of both pilots onboard. This is the third Jaguar aircraft crash reported in the last five months
The incident sent shockwaves through the region, with locals reporting a loud explosion followed by a plume of thick black smoke rising into the sky. Panic gripped nearby villages as news of the crash spread.
Confirming the incident, the IAF said in a statement: “An IAF Jaguar trainer aircraft met with an accident during a routine training mission and crashed near Churu in Rajasthan today. Both pilots sustained fatal injuries in the accident. No damage to any civil property has been reported.”
The IAF also extended condolences to the families of the deceased, stating: “IAF deeply regrets the loss of lives and stands firmly with the bereaved families in this time of grief.” A court of inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the crash.
Churu Superintendent of Police Jay Yadav confirmed the crash took place in Bhanuda village under the jurisdiction of Rajaldesar police station. He said a police team was dispatched immediately and reported the recovery of severely mutilated human remains near the wreckage.
Eyewitnesses said they heard a thunderous blast before noticing smoke billowing from the crash site. Emergency and rescue teams reached the area promptly and have since cordoned it off.
Local authorities have urged residents to stay away from the site to ensure rescue operations and investigations can proceed without obstruction.
