'It pains ever more to know...': Vikrant Massey says first officer of fateful Air India flight was his family friend

"It pains even more to know that my 'uncle,' Clifford Kunder lost his son, Clive Kunder who was the 1st officer operating on that fateful flight," he posted on Instagram.

Actor Vikrant Massey of 12th Fail fame mourned the victims of the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on Thursday, adding that one of them was his family friend.

"My heart breaks for the families & loved ones of the ones who lost their lives in the unimaginably tragic air crash in Ahmedabad today," he posted on Instagram.

"It pains even more to know that my 'uncle,' Clifford Kunder lost his son, Clive Kunder who was the 1st officer operating on that fateful flight. May God give strength to you and your family 'uncle' and to all deeply affected," he added.

Many other Bollywood celebrities including actors Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Sunny Deol, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Manoj Bajpayee, Allu Arjun and director Karan Johar expressed shock at the tragedy.

All but one of the 242 people on board the Air India flight headed for London died in the crash. The lone survivor who miraculously escaped was a 40-year-old British national.

A number of people on the ground also died as the plane crashed into a hostel for medical students.
