CHANDIGARH: Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been removed from the United States and is being deported to India.

Sources said Anmol is expected to land in Delhi on Wednesday after the US Department of Homeland Security informed the family of Baba Siddique --the former Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader who was shot dead in Bandra, Mumbai, on October 12 last year-- that Anmol had been removed from the US.

An email sent to the Siddique family by the DHS-VINE Service reads: "This email is to inform you that ANMOL BHISNOI has been removed from the United States by the federal government. The offender was removed on November 18, 2025. For more information, please call 1-844-442-2553. This notification is sponsored by the DHS-VINE Service. It is our hope that this information has been helpful to you.”

Speaking to TNIE, Zeeshan Siddiqui, son of the deceased Baba Siddique, said the family had been in touch with US authorities after the murder, as they learned that Anmol Bishnoi had a hand in the killing and had been receiving regular updates on the case.

"As my email is registered in the victims’ notification system with US authorities, I received a message this morning...,” he said.

"As a family, we want to know who was behind my father’s murder. Anmol Bishnoi acted on someone else’s instructions...why would he kill my father otherwise? I have been asking for his extradition for a long time,” he added.

Sources said Anmol fled the country on a forged passport, travelled to Nepal, then to Dubai, Kenya and eventually reached the US. He was detained last November, after which deportation proceedings began.

Anmol, who hails from Fazilka in Punjab, was his brother Lawrence Bishnoi’s principal overseas handler and allegedly directed extortion rackets, issued threats and coordinated assignments through encrypted channels. He was spotted at a Punjabi wedding in California in April 2023.

Sources said around 18 cases have been registered against Anmol, including for his alleged role in the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022. He is accused of coordinating the plot while operating from abroad and reportedly arranging weapons and logistical support for the assailants.

He is also wanted in connection with the firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s home in Mumbai in April last year, for which he claimed responsibility on Facebook.

Anmol is on the National Investigation Agency (NIA)’s list of India’s “most wanted,” and a reward of Rs 10 lakh had been announced for information leading to his arrest.
