Kolkata, Dec 16 (PTI) Byomkesh Season 2, themuch-awaited web series sequel featuring the iconic fictionalsleuth, has started streaming on the digital platform fromtoday.

The web series started streaming on the 'hoichoi' webdigital platform from 7 am.

In the new series, Byomkesh Bakshi, the creation ofBengali writer, Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay, will solve themystery of Satyakam's murder.

The script is based on 'Rakter Daag', anotherbestseller in the Byomkesh series, director SoumikChattopadhyay said.

Byomkesh is being played by actor Anirban Bhattacharyain the web series.

"I have tried to project him as a crime-buster as wellas an ordinary human. The character has four to five shades toit and I tried portraying them all," Bhattacharya said.

'Yeti Obhijaan' actor Aryann Bhowmik, who playsSatyakam in 'Rakter Daag' in the Byomkesh Season 2 web series,said, "My character has the premonition of being killed andturns to Byomkesh for help. I have been hooked to ByomkeshBakshi novels since my school days.""After being part of the feature film based on anotherpopular fictional character - adventurer Kakababu - doing aByomkesh Bakshi fills you with immense pride," he said.

Meanwhile, a week-long film festival featuring thedetective concluded today on the same web platform.

The web film festival, which started streaming fromMonday, December 11, had an interesting package of BengaliByomkesh films, such as Chiriakhana (1967), Byomkesh Bakshi(2010), Satyanweshi (2013), Byomkesh Phire Elo (2014) ByomkeshBakshi (2014), Har Har Byomkesh (2015) and Byomkesh oChiriakhana (2016).
