Chennai, Nov 25 (PTI) Tamil Nadu's Sethu Football Clubbegan its campaign in the Group "A" of Indian Women's Leaguequalifying tournament, with a 16-0 rout of Baroda FA atKolhapur today.
The Madurai-based team led 8-0 at half-time and pumpedin eight more in the second half, a press release said.
Striker R Sumithra netted six goals, including ahat-trick, Velanie Fernandes scored three, Puja Karmakar andM Nandhini scored two each while Laura Estibeiro, Manisha andA Karthika also found the net.
"This is a great start for our team and we hope tocarry the momentum into our next game," coach Kalpana Dasssaid.
"It's exciting to have scored six (goals)," saidSumithra, who hails from Thiruvarur and has turned out for thestate in the national championships.
"We have been working methodically at practice. Ouraim is to qualify," she added.
Sethu FC next plays J&K State Sports Council onNovember 27 in what is now a five-team group following thewithdrawal of Capital Complex Sporting Club. PTI SSBN.
