Prithvi adds golden sheen to Tamil Nadu display

Prithvi Raj CSB bagged gold in the 50m butterfly event in Group I of the 43rd Junior National Aquatic Championships.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu’s Prithvi Raj CSB (26.15 sec) bagged gold in the 50m butterfly event in Group I of the 43rd Junior National Aquatic Championships at the Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre in Bengaluru on Friday.

D Adithya added a second silver tot he state’s quota, this time in the 50m butterfly boys’ Group II event He finished behind Assam’s Bastab Tapan Bordoloi (27.15 sec).

On the penultimate day of the event, Karnataka swimmer Sanjay CJ bettered the 400 metres freestyle record in boys’ Group II section, clocking 04:15.58 minutes. He bettered the mark of 4:16.22 set by Aaron D’Souza .

The other record of the day came from Maharashtra boy Neel Roy, who set a new National mark in the boys’ Group I 200m individual medley event. The new mark was 2:10.74 as against the old one of 2:11.13.
