Spot-fixing: A TV sting operation revealed that many IPL players had confessed that they got much more than their auction money under the table. The sting also revealed that spot-fixing is very prevalent in IPL and women played an important role in match-fixing. BCCI suspended five players and ordered an enquiry.

Tax raids: A team of Income Tax officials conducted raids at the Indian Premier League headquarters situated within the premises of the BCCI building here. Two Gujarati investors Mukesh Patel of Shree Ram Vessels (SRV) and Vipul Shah of Parinee Developers were raided by IT Department earlier in this connection. Parinee holds 26 % stake in IPL Kochi and is a special purpose vehicle of SRV.

Misusing power: The then Union Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor was in a controversy around the Kochi IPL team for helping to set up the franchise that pitted him and its owners against the then IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi. Modi not only publicly disclosed the names of the owners of the consortium and also alleged Tharoor had told him not to ask who these shareholders were. This controversy left Tharoor out of UPA government. Later he married Sunanda Pushkar, who had an arrangement for a free stake to the tune of Rs 70 crore in that team.

India Vs Pakistan: KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan was under fire from the Shiv Sena for favouring Pakistani players in the IPL.
"I don't know what the issue is all about...I don't know what I am supposed to retract. Am I supposed to retract the fact I'm an Indian but I don't want anyone to come to my country," Khan said referring to sharp reaction from Sena on his remarks about the inclusion of Pakistani cricketers on the IPL tournament. KKR in news: Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan dismissed a website report that his IPL franchise is up for sale. According to that report, Khan was in touch with Nokia, Sahara and the Anil Ambani Group to sell the team which he had bought for Rs 300 crore.

Racial discrimination: Former India player Ajay Jadeja claimed that he had definite proof of racial discrimination targeted at Indian players in Kolkata Knight Riders franchise by the support staff led by former Aussie coach John Buchanan. Jadeja claimed a member of the Shah Rukh Khan teams' foreign coaching staff had used racially loaded language for an Indian player.

Racial incident: Two dark-skinned cheerleaders from London, hired by the Mohali team franchisee, have claimed that they were told to sit out and not take the stage because they weren't white.
