Girona loans Manchester City's defender Pablo Maffeo for 3rd consecutive season

Maffeo was on loan to Girona last season when he impressed and helped the team to secure its promotion to La Liga.

GIRONA: Spanish football league's newly-promoted side Girona on Tuesday confirmed the loan of defender Pablo Maffeo from Manchester City for the third consecutive season.

The 20-year-old Spaniard joined the club for the first time in the 2015/2016 season in the winter transfer window, reports Efe.

"Enjoy your extended stay @GironaFC, @pablomaffeo! Hope your second year on loan is as successful as the first!" Manchester City tweeted.

Maffeo was on loan to Girona last season when he impressed and helped the team to secure its promotion to La Liga.

He made 27 appearances for Girona in the 2016/2017 season, so the Spanish club decided to seek his efforts for another year.

Maffeo, born on July 12, 1997, joined Manchester City in the 2013/2014 season.
