THE HAGUE: Netherlands coach Dick Advocaat will step down as national coach after the forthcoming friendlies against Scotland and Romania, the Dutch ANP agency reported on Wednesday.

"These two games will be my last at the head of the team. After, I will stop," said the 70-year-old.

Advocaat returned to coach the Dutch for a third time in May but was unable to steer the struggling European heavyweights to the World Cup finals in Russia next year.
