Leroy George has signed a one-year deal to play for Melbourne Victory in the next Australian A-League season.

SYDNEY: Dutch winger Leroy George has signed a one-year deal to play for Melbourne Victory in the next Australian A-League season, the club said on Saturday.

The 30-year-old Suriname-born George joins Victory from Turkish club Goztepe and is a former Netherlands Under-21 player. 

George played a total of 154 games in the Eredivisie with FC Utrecht and NEC.

"Leroy is physically very strong, has good speed and can score goals - exactly the type of player we had been chasing," Victory head coach Kevin Muscat said.

The A-League season kicks off on October 6.
