LAS PALMAS: Goalkeeper Raul Fernandez said, during his presentation as the latest signing of UD Las Palmas, he has fully recovered from the hip surgery he underwent in January and is anxious to return to action.

The 30-year-old Bilbao native, who recently parted ways with Levante after two seasons, said here on Monday that accepting the offer from Las Palmas was an easy choice, as the Canary Islands club has "all the ingredients" he was seeking, including a distinguished history and devoted fans, reports Efe.

Having been part of the Levante squad that won promotion to La Liga two years ago, Fernandez said he would be thrilled to repeat the experience with Las Palmas, who were relegated to the second division at the end of last season.

"You have to go step-by-step, it's not easy. It takes a lot of time and work because the Second (division season) is very long and the level is very even," he said.

With Levante, Fernandez allowed the fewest goals of any La Liga keeper during the 2016-2017 season.
