NIZHNY NOVGOROD: FC CSKA Moscow has won the Russian Super Cup, defeating FC Lokomotiv Moscow 1-0.

The game took place at the Niznhy Novgorod Stadium in the city of Nizhny Novgorod, which previously hosted 2018 FIFA World Cup matches, reports TASS news agency.

The match was attended by 43,319 football fans, which equals the venue's attendance record.

The Super Cup final was to see FC Lokomotiv Moscow come up against FC Tosno, the winner of the 2017-18 Russian Cup, but the team was dissolved in June 2018 and was replaced by FC CSKA Moscow.

FC CSKA Moscow won the Russian Super Cup for the seventh time (2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2013, 2014). FC Locomotiv had won the tournament in 2003 and 2005.
