KOCHI: It’s time to cheer.  For all football fans who have been waiting for the ball to roll, the wait is almost over. Gokulam Kerala FC (GKFC), the only Kerala team playing in I-league, will take on West Bengal’s Mohun Bagan on Saturday at EMS Corporation Stadium, Kozhikode.

As Gokulam Kerala FC plays for the first time in the second season, they will be cheered on by a huge crowd. Though the team failed to raise the trophy last year, the expectations are high this time.  Even the team has declared that they will not stop for anything less than the first three positions.

Saturday’s match will see spirits soaring as the club will take on Mohun Bagan whose trump card is Ugandan striker Henry Kisekka, who was the best of the GKFC the previous year. GKFC team manager Rajah Rizwan told Express that the players are set.

“We have a great team this time. We had got enough time for practice. This has helped the members to come together and perform like a single unit,” he said. “The ticket counters operating at various centres are getting a great response as well. This time,  we have given special invitations to students of various schools and colleges. This will further add to the turnout,” he added.  The ticket for a match vary from Rs 50 to Rs 110.
