CHENNAI: India's challenge in the girls' team event of the WSF-World Junior squash championship ended with a 1-2 loss to Hong Kong in the quarterfinals at Tauranga, New Zealand, today.

Sunayna Kuruvilla gave India the lead with a come-from behind win over Chan Sin Yuk in 31 minutes. She lost the first game but hit back to take the next three games comfortably to post a 9-11, 11-6, 11-3, 11-7 victory, according to the information received here.

Hong Kong levelled the tie when Liu Hiu Lam brushed aside the challenge of Akanksha Salunkhe 11-5, 11-2, 11-4 in just 17 minutes.

In the decisive tie, Ka Wing Ho beat Aishwarya Bhattacharya 11-8, 11-5, 11-7 in 22 minutes to steer Hong Kong into the semifinals.

Yesterday, the Indian girls had beaten France 2-1 to finish second in Pool C to secure a last eight spot.
