MELBOURNE: Australian Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt has named Thanasi Kokkinakis alongside Nick Kyrgios, Jordan Thompson and John Peers in his team for next week's Davis Cup semifinal in Belgium.

The matches will be held on indoor clay at the Palais 12 in Brussels from Sept. 15-17.

Hewitt said in a statement Wednesday that Kokkinakis, who returned recently from 18 months off the tour with shoulder and abdominal injuries, "has always shown commitment to the Davis Cup team."

The 21-year-old Kokkinakis has made a rapid rise in the ATP rankings since returning, beating several top 20 players and reaching a singles final.

A victory over Belgium would see Australia host the Davis Cup final at home in late November against the winner of the other semifinal between France and Serbia.
