HYDERABAD: Independent MLA from Atmakur in Nellore district Kommi Lakshmaiah Naidu today rejoined Telugu Desam Party in the presence of party chief N Chandrababu Naidu and cine actor N Balakrishna.

Speaking on the occasion, Naidu hoped that party would be further strengthened in Nellore district.

Balakrishna said even MLAs were joining Telugu Desam Party as people felt that only TDP could deliver what it promises. TDP leaders K Yerran Naidu, Nellore district president S Chandramohan Reddy and others were present. Lakshmaiah Naidu won the 2004 Assembly election as an independent. He was elected as an MLA in 1994 on TDP ticket.

Later, he quit the party when he lost the elections in 1999. Lakshmaiah Naidu said that he elicited the opinions of the people of his constituency wether to join in Congress, PRP or TDP. ``Majority of people wanted me to rejoin TDP ,’’ he explained.

Cine actor Balakrishna was instrumental in bringing back Naidu into the partyfold. Recently, G Muddu Krishnama Naidu too rejoined the party.
