KAKINADA: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University- Kakinada (JNTU-K) Vice-Chancellor Prof Allam Appa Rao has said that the university would implement reforms in the examination system from this year.

Speaking at a meeting held on `Examination reforms-new initiatives’ in the Civil Department conference hall here today, he said as part of the reforms a foolproof accountable, transparent, accurate and speed examination system would be implemented.

The system would infuse confidence among students as well as their parents, he added. JNTU-K would provide a Xerox copy of the answer sheet of a student on paying Rs 5,000 if he/she has any doubts over the marks obtained, the Vice-Chancellor said.

Stern action would be initiated against the valuer of the answer paper if any variation was found in the marks and the valuer would be debarred for a period of two or three years if found erring.

After first and second valuation there would be third valuation also, he said.

The valuers should be vigilant in valuing the answer papers and any laxity in this regard would be viewed seriously, he said.

Question papers would be downloaded by the respective colleges and the password would be given only before one hour of the commencement of the examination, he added.

The entire system would be mechanised and there was no scope for any lapses, the Vice-Chancellor said.

Software Development Centre would soon come up in the JNTU, he stated. JNTU-K is a student- centric university, he said and advised the college management, principals, chief superintendents to give their suggestions to implement the examination reforms more effectively.

JNTU-K Director of evaluation Prof K Satya Prasad said the University was introducing the reforms for the welfare of the students.

There was no scope for any malpractices in this new system, he said.
