KADAPA: Former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's wife Vijayalakshmi, has created history by becoming the first women MLA elected unanimously from Kadapa district.

A formal announcement has to be made on December 5 by the returning officer.

It may be recalled that in the by-election scheduled to be held on December 19, for Pulivendula assembly seat, which was due to the death of YSR.

Vijayalakshmi is the only candidate who filed her nomination for the by-poll.

All parties have expressed solidarity with YSR family and decided not to contest.

She is the second MLA, who is elected unopposed from the district.

In 1972 S P Nagireddy contested on Congress ticket from Mydukur constituency, was elected unanimously from the faction ridden Kadapa district. .
