HYDERABAD: In order to check illegal movement of fine rice to other parts of the country, the State Government today banned its transportation out of the State till end of Kharif season next year.
By an order it has imposed a ban on movement of superfine varieties of paddy and rice, BPT Sonamasuri, Sambamasuri, Giddamasuri, Vijayamasuri, Tella Masuri Jeelakara Masuri, Molagolukulu, Jeelakara Sannalu, Jayelu till the end of Kharif season.
It observed that these varieties of rice are being transported by the rice millers and traders to other states to earn huge profits and to create artificial scarcity.
Under these circumstances and to control the price rise of superfine varieties of rice during the kharif Marketing season (KMS) 2009-10, the Government has extended the ban till the next KM season and stated that it would remain in force till further orders. In the GO it also instructed the Collectors and Chief Rationing Officers to position sufficient supporting staff at the border checkposts for verification of movement of paddy and rice.
