HYDERABAD: A junior assistant in the district registrar office at Eluru was trapped today when he took a bribe to extend an official favour.

The junior assistant, Tippabhatla Nagendra Babu, was trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials at his office when he took Rs 1,000 from a person, Dwarampudi Pavan Kumar of Tallamudunurupadu village in Tadepalligudem mandal of the district to process the memorandum and articles of association for the registration of Pavan Women Child Welfare Association, Tadepalligudem. Nagendra Babu was arrested and would be produced before a special court for ACB cases in Vijayawada.

Meanwhile, the former assistant executive engineer of panchayatraj department, Bheemini mandal of Adilabad, J Radhakrishna, was dismissed from service following his conviction and sentence of imprisonment in a trap case.

Radhakrishna was earlier convicted and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year and to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 for taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a contractor of Nayakampet village.
