HYDERABAD: Chronicling the glorious history, culture and customs of Telugus, the Potti Sri Ramulu Telugu University is coming up with its third installment of the ten-volume series on `The Comprehensive History of Telugus’. Higher Education Minister D Sridhar Babu will release the book at a function to be organised in the university premises on July 20.

The ten-volume series is aimed at chronicling the history of Telugus ever since the first records of their existence.

The project has been taken up about ten years ago by the Telugu University in association with the Andhra Pradesh History Congress.

The authorities have already published two parts in the series and the third volume is on `First Middle Age of Andhra Pradesh - History and Culture’.

The fourth part is also ready for publishing.

Speaking to reporters here today, Telugu University Vice-Chancellor Anumandla Bhoomaiah said that the third volume will provide comprehensive information on the history of Telugus between 624 AD and 1000 AD focusing on issues of political, financial, social and culture. The volume will also cover the development of Srisailam, Tirumala, Ahobilam and Srikalahasti pilgrim centres apart from agriculture, administration, foriegn trade and transport during this period.

Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education chairman KC Reddy, AP Press Academy former chairman Potturi Venkateswara Rao, and editor of the books Vakulabharanam Ramakrishna apart from historians and academicians will participate in the book release function.
