NELLORE: Brahmotsavams o f Vengamamba temple will be held at Narravada in Duttaluru mandal from June 14 to 18.

According to the temple executive officer P Subramanyam, the five-day annual festival will begin on June 14 with `Nilupu’ ritual. As part of the festival, the deity will be taken in a procession on June 15 and 16.

On the penultimate day of the festival, Pushpakumkuma Utsavam will be organised. The deity will be taken in a procession in the village. The festival will conclude with Pongallu. Food cooked on the temple premises will be offered to the deity as part of the ritual. Bullock cart race will also be organised to mark the conclusion of the festival.

About one lakh devotees are expected to participate in the five-day temple fete. According to the belief, the Goddess will fulfil the wish of a devotee, if he takes a vow during the festival.

Businessmen take a token loan from the temple hereditary trustee, which is called `Vengamma Dabbu’.

The loan with interest will be repaid to the Goddess next year.

It is a belief that Vengamma Dabbu ensures flourishing business.
