HYDERABAD: The hate campaign being run in the name of elections has turned worse in Andhra Pradesh, which go to polls for the Lok Sabha and the Assembly simultaneously.
At the receiving end is former actress Roja, who is the TDP nominee for Chandragiri Assembly constituency in Chittoor.
After verbal duels on TV channels, which often bordered on abuse, an MMS showing the actress and a stranger in a compromising position is doing the rounds. The five-minute clip is being circulated over mobile phones in the state.
This is the first time that such an MMS has surfaced during elections.
However, the video appears to have been morphed to damage the image of the actress, who has hit the headlines recently for her virulent attack on Chiranjeevi-led Praja Rajyam and the Congress.
Notwithstanding Roja’s earlier association with Chiranjeevi, she has been one of his most vocal critics particularly in the run up to elections.
TDP leaders, however, dismissed the video as fake and a cheap tactic by political opponents to defame the actress because of her rise in politics and her ability to focus effectively on public issues.
Roja said that she had heard of the MMS. She did not blame anyone but said she would lodge a complaint with the Election Commission.
