WARANGAL: There-postmortem on the body of Maoist Central Committee member Patel Sudhakar Reddy was conducted at the MGM Hospital mortuary here today following the directions of the High Court.

The same could not be done in the case of State Committee member Venkataiah as his body had already been taken by his parents on Sunday evening to Ienapuram in Cheryala mandal and cremated. They were said to have refused to allow a repostmortem.

The procedure on Patel Sudhakar Reddy was videographed, but none of his relatives were allowed to enter the mortuary premises.

The body was later handed over to his brothers.

After attending the cremation of Venkataiah at Ainapuram, revolutionary poet Varavara Rao reached Warangal to pay tributes to Patel Sudhakar Reddy.

The litterateur was prevented from paying his last respects to the leader and obstructed from having a look at the body as it was being taken to Station Ghanpur. Libertarians and other civil society leaders have deplored the attitude of the police.

CPM seeks judicial probe

CPM State committee has demanded the State Government to order a judicial inquiry into Tadwai encounter in Warangal district where the CPI Maoist Central committee member Patel Sudhakar Reddy and his associate K Venkatiah were killed.

The committee said that several doubts were being raised over the contention of the police that it was a straight case of encounter. The CPM urged the State Government to put an end to fake encounters.

The committee also demanded the Government to take action against the contractor who was constructing the tower in Adilabad which collapsed killing 12 labourers.
