WARANGAL: Asserting that his fast unto death would begin as declared, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao threatened that Government alone would be responsible for the consequences if it tried to disrupt the programme.

He made the remarks addressing a Students Conference in Kakatiya University which was attended by 12 student unions. The unions supported the fast. KCR fumed at Chief Minister K Rosaiah saying that the Government was trying its best to foil the protest.

The TRS leader pointed out that he was being troubled though he was going to take up the fast in a peaceful and democratic way. “Thousands of police reached Siddipet to keep a strict vigil and 64 TRS leaders were bind-over,’’ he explained In his hour-long address, he detailed them origin and development of Telangana movement and under what circumstances he was provoked to take up fast unto death. Students turned up in large numbers for the meet.

“Had I wanted to trouble the Government, I would have resorted to flash protest but I wanted to follow Gandhian way of protest. If they try to disrupt it situation would be different,’’ the TRS chief said.

Maintaining that there was no question of stepping back on the issue, he maintained that he was resorting to the protest as a last resort. “Due to lack of jobs in Telangana, many engineering and PG students are taking up works under the NREGS,’’ he lamented.

For its part, Government didn’t try to bring back the bodies, for two months, of those who went to Dubai for a livelihood. Andhra migrants’ had already stolen water.

Now, they are talking of interlinking of rivers to exploit Godavari waters.

He observed that Godavari waters belonging to Telangana are linked to Krishna to feed Rayalaseema. “Whey didn’t they link Krishna waters to Godavari,’’ he questioned.

Telangana movement’s proponent and campaigner Prof. Jayasankar warned of internal trouble if Hyderabad was made a free zone.

He reminded the proactive role played by students in Telangana movements in the history.
