KARIMNAGAR: If the district administration, people and leaders in Adilabad are complaining that their district has not received a single penny from the government for the Pranahita river Pushkarams, the officials and leaders in Karimnagar district seem to have a communication gap regarding the amount of funds released.

While declaring the proposed celebrations as state festival, it was announced that Karimnagar district would get about `5.5 crore for conducting the festival.

At a review meeting of the festival on November 20, collector G D Aruna announced in Kaleswaram that the government had sanctioned `9 crore, while higher education minister D Sridhar Babu put the figure at `20 crore. When questioned about the difference in quoted figures, Sridhar Babu said, “There may be communication gap between the government and the collector”.

He said a review meeting on the arrangmenets made for the festival would be held on Nov 25 in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, an official taking care of the arrangments told that the funds so far released were too less and the works were progressing at snail’s pace.
