HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao has said that his party was committed to  launching 'Maha Udyamam' after the Sankranthi festival in January to secure separate statehood for Telangana region.

After TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu's tour of Mahaboobnagar district yesterday, the TRS president visited the district and addressed a public meeting at Kollapur town where M Vishnuvardhan Reddy and several others belonging to the TDP and PRP joined the party.

Addressing the public meeting in front of the Rajavari Bungalow grounds, the TRS leader described the TDP as the only hurdle for formation of Telangana state.

He said Telangana people had no hopes on the Srikrishna committee report but they would mount pressure on the Central government after December 31. "We will give 15 to 20 days time to the government to resolve the Telangana issue and if they do not respond, the TRS will continue the movement after the Sankarnthi festival and it will be a Maha Udyamam," he said.

All sections of the state were mentally prepared for bifurcation now and no one would dare stop Telangana state, he added.

He dismissed allegations by TDP MLAs that the TRS was responsible for yesterday's attack on TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu at Parigi in Rangareddy district.

The TRS was in no way connected with the attack and it did not believe in such attacks, he said. "The students of the region are very angry with the TDP leadership, particularly Naidu who has taken a U-turn on  formation of Telangana state. That is why students are demanding that he should clarify the TDP stand on the Telangana statehood demand," the TRS chief remarked.

"Nearly 400 students committed suicides in the last few months in Telangana but the opposition leader did not console a single family. Now he is touring Telangana districts on the pretect of fertiliser shortage which is a new political drama launched  by him," KCR said.

Alleging that the TDP chief had prevented formation of Telangana state after the Central government was prepared to announce it, he demanded that the TDP should clarify its stand on formation of the Telangana state.
