VISAKHAPATAM: Praja Rajyam Party activist Mopada Srinu (38), who was allegedly injured in police lathicharge at Makavarapalem in the district on Monday died at a corporate hospital here this evening, taking the toll to two.

Yesterday, Ruttala Peddi Naidu, who was under treatment at the same hospital for injuries he allegedly sustained in the same lathicharge died.

The death of Srinu came as a shcok to PRP workers who were agitating at the collector's office today demanding judicial inquiry and compensation to the kin of the first victim. Srinu is survived by wife Lakshmi and two children Kumari and Ganesh. They were demanding judicial inquiry since the police were claiming that Srinu and Peddi Naidu were injured when they jumped from the police jeep while PRP leader who was on a fast at the camp was being shifted to Visakhapatnam for admission to a hospital.

Srinu, a daily wage worker, was among the protestors at a dharna camp at Makavaripalem when police lathicharged the crowd. He was on life support system at the hospital since then. ? ENS
