HYDERABAD: Congress Rajya Sabha member V Hanumnatha Rao today took strong exception to RSS former chief KS Sudarshan for calling Congress president Sonia Gandhi a CIA agent and plotting the assassination of her husband Rajiv Gandhi and mother-in-law Indira Gandhi. In a statement here, he said that it was highly objectionable for the RSS leader to make insinuations against a leader who had sacrificed a lot for the sake of the country.

“Sudarshan, by heaping malicious and baseless allegations on Sonia Gandhi, had in fact humiliated women across the country.’’ He recalled Sonia Gandhi refusing the position of prime minister twice and said that she was working selflessly for the welfare of weaker sections.

He said Sonia Gandhi had not spared anyone who faced charges of corruption, whether it was Adarsh Society scam in Maharashtra or the conduct of Common Wealth Games in Delhi and wanted everyone to take part in protests tomorrow across the country.

The Rajya Sabha member, who called on Sonia Gandhi earlier in the day at Delhi, sought CBI probe into EMAAR scam. He said he had pointed out to her that whoever was responsible for the scam regardless of which party one belongs, should be brought to book. He wanted her to direct chief minister K Rosaiah to refer the case to CBI, Hanumantha Rao said.
