HYDERABAD/GUNTUR: The fight between two SP rank officers over occupying the SP’s bungalow in Guntur district reached the office of the Director General of Police after Guntur Range IG Harish Kumar Gupta met DGP V Dinesh Reddy on Friday and discussed the matter with him.

The DGP is understood to have told Gupta that both, the urban SP Syamsundar and rural SP A Ravichandra should share the bungalow, putting an end to the controversy, which embarrassed the police top brass, who themselves were taken aback by the uncivilised behaviour of the two officials.

The nameplate of Ravichandra on the gate of the bungalow was found damaged.

Ravichandra ‘blamed’ Syamsundar for it before his higher-ups.

Senior IPS officers, including the DGP, took a serious view of the issue and were of the opinion that both officers should have maintained dignity and settled the issue between themselves instead of fighting in the open.

Gupta put forth the views of both the SPs and after which it was decided to allot the first floor of the bungalow to Ravichandra and the ground floor to Syamsundar.

Speaking to mediamen, Guntur Urban Police Special Branch DSP Jayachandra Reddy said as per instructions of higher- ups, both the SPs would share the bungalow.

Syamsundar took charge a week ago as urban SP.
