Khammam municipality, the headquarters of Khammam district, is all set to be upgraded as a municipal corporation.
The state government issued orders on Friday merging the surrounding gram phanchats with the Khammam municipality to facilitate the town’s upgradation as a corporation.
In its orders, the government cancelled the resolutions passed by gram panchayats opposing their merger with the town.
With the government cancelling the resolutions of the panchayats and deciding to merge them with Khammam municipality, Khammam will soon be declared as a corporation by the government.
