Telangana MLA turns a hero in Anantapur

If AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao are are being portrayed as the villains of Seemandhra, it is a Congress MLA from Sangareddy in Telangana region who has suddenly become the icon of the Samaikyandhra supporters.

A strong opponent of a separate Telangana, Congress MLA K Jagga Reddy was being given special attention on Sunday. Rallies were taken with the portraits of Jagga Reddy in the district hailing his anti-T stand.

In Tadipatri, agitators who carried photos and flexis of Jagga Reddy, raised slogans hailing him and at the same time also gave up slogans against the leaders from Seemandhra region.

Though, the agitation for unified state passed off peacefully in the district on the fifth day, mild tension prevailed at Gooty Gandhi circle when DCC president and Guntakal MLA K Madhusudhan Gupta had a heated exchange of words with the protesters.

As agitators blamed the Congress for the crisis, the DCC president told them that apart from the Congress all other parties also favoured Telangana state and suggested the agitators to burn the effigies of the leaders. This led to heated arguments between the MLA and the protesters.

However, police came to the spot and dispersed both the groups. In Anantapur, Muslim and Christian minorities took a massive rally in the town against state bifurcation. Several organisations also took up protest demonstrations in various parts of the town.

In Kadiri, protesters organised Vanta-Varpu. Keeping in veiw the Ramzan festival, agitators gave relaxation to bandh in Kadiri, Rayadurgam areas. However, they took up the protests.
