Murali suffered a heart attack while travelling to Kakinada from Secunderabad on the Gautami Express. He was going to participate in the Kakinada Beach Festival.

"He collapsed in the train he was travelling in to Kakinada. He passed away even before he reached the Kakinada government hospital," a hospital administrator told IANS.

In a career spanning over a decade, Murali sang over 100 songs. Some of his hit numbers are from films "Khushi", "100 percent Love", "Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu" and "Mr Perfect".
