Surekha & Murali sort out matters with Vijayalakshmi, to meet Jagan today

Konda Surekha and her husband Murali, who had been on war path against the YSRC leadership till the other day, seem to have mended their fences with their party leadership.

Following the mediation of party MLA Balineni Srinivas Reddy, the couple met their party honorary president YS Vijayalakshmi at the party headquarters here on Monday and held talks with her.

Emerging from the meeting the Konda couple dropped enough hints that they had buried the hatchet with their party leadership and would continue in the party.

It is learnt that as the YSRC leadership is also not ready to lose the Konda couple, who are the party’s strong leaders in the northern Telangana region, Vijayalakshmi conceded their demand that due respect be given to them in the party affairs.

“Konda Surekha sacrificed her ministerial post as well as MLA position for Jagan. Her husband Murali also relinquished MLC post in order to stand behind Jagan. If they leave the party at this juncture, wrong signals will go to people that the party is neglecting its old-timers for the sake of newcomers. Hence, Vijayamma did not want to precipitate the matter further and agreed to the demands of the Konda couple,” a top leader in the YSRC said. Surekha and Murali are likely to meet their party chief Jagan at the Chanchalguda prison here on Tuesday and tell him that they will work for the party henceforth.

KONATALA ABSENT: Meanwhile, sulking Konatala Ramakrishna was conspicuous by his absence from the meeting of the political affairs committee of the YSRC held here on Monday.

His absence assumes significance as he has been unhappy with the admission of Dadi Veerabhadra Rao into the party. However, YSRC leaders explained that Konatala could not attend the meeting as he was busy with scheduled programmes.

Another leader, Bajireddy Govardhan, too did not turn up at the meeting.

Local body elections and party honorary president Vijayalakshmi’s proposed tour across the state figured at the meeting, party leaders said.
