Karimnagar should be developed as a vedic corridor as the entire Godavari basin -- Manthani, Dharmapuri and Vemulawada -- is known as Dakshina Kashi, several Vedic scholars opined on Saturday. They were participating in the 13th convention of the Veda Pathashala in Vemulawada. About 200 Vedic scholars from the entire Telangana region attended the convention and the Vemulawada temple town has been reverberating with ‘Veda Ghosha’ (Vedic chanting) over the last two days.

In the past, there used to be a number Ghanapaties (Vedic Scholars) in the temple town. Now, there are only 40 of them and there is need to increase their numbers, according to convention organising committee member Sainath Sharma.

Yajurveda, Samaveda, Adharvana and Rigveda pandits took part in the convention on Saturday. Samaveda Havanam was performed at Shankar Math.
